From time to time we see advertisements in the press for dogs on sale – “Registered with the Barbados Kennel Club”.

Prospective buyers should check the validity of this statement before parting with their money. Responsible breeders provide registration certificates at the time of sale. Without these, the dog you have just bought will be a delightful pet, but will not be able to be exhibited aat pedigree dog show, and if you breed from it, the puppies, like the parent will be unable to be shown.

Beware before you agree to buy. Ask for the papers and do not accept any excuses.

You may be told, ‘the application is with the Kennel Club”. This can be checked by telephoning the Registrar – number 417-0607, Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
